Android Wear 1.0 End Of Support
Google last updated Android Wear version 1 back in June 2016. Many devices received updates to Android Wear 2.0 (which was then confusingly rebranded as WearOS 1.0) but there are a few notable exceptions such as the Sony Smartwatch 3 which didn’t receive an update.
We have been fully supporting these old devices over the last 5 years, but unfortunately we will no longer be able to support them. We haven’t taken this decision lightly, but unfortunately some of the new features we are are building simply aren’t supported by the old Android Wear 1 platform.
What happens now?
Release v4.4.3 will be the last version of the app that supports Android Wear 1.0 watches. After this version, any new updates will automatically update on the phone, but not on the watch. This will leave the watch app unusable. There is a workaround - read below.
Can I continue to use my Android Wear 1.0 watch?
Yes, but you wont receive updates.
Download our v4.4.3 APK here and side-load it on your Android phone (which will push it to the watch automatically).
