What to pack in a referee kit bag

REFSIX takes you through all the essential bits of kit a referee needs. The basics include:

  • Flags

  • Kit - top, shorts, boots and socks

  • Cards - red and yellow

  • Whistle

  • Smart watch with REFSIX installed

There are plenty of extra pieces of kit that will help you on match day that you may not be aware of. Our video has tips and tricks that give you a helping hand and make sure you’re prepared for any eventuality.

Ensuring you have enough charge on your phone and watch is important, so we recommend taking a power bank with you. You’ll also need a big bag or suitcase to carry all your kit in.

Along with your match kit, you will need a warm-up kit such as mid-layers, warm-up tops and jogging bottoms.

To get the match started you’ll need some kind of coin to toss with the captains of both teams.

A pressure gauge comes in handy to check the ball pressure - something the referee is ultimately responsible for.

It’s worth carrying a pencil or pen so you can make notes if needed. REFSIX helps you take notes without a pen and paper, so you can make your bag lighter by downloading the app.

If you need to give out yellow and red cards, you’ll have to remember to pack them in your kit bag.
